Last Saturday I drove to Seward and went out on a 4 hour boat tour in Resurrection Bay. I was lucky enough to see 3 humpback whales, 2 gray whales, Dall's porpoises, harbor seals and Stellar sea lions hauled out on rocks, bald eagles, mountain goats and thousands of seabirds. The gray whales are just returning to Alaskan waters after having spent the winter off the coast of Mexico. It was a beautiful day to experience the diversity and awe inspiring wonders of Alaska's Kenai Peninsula. --Leanne Many Alaskan whales winter in warmer water. Gray whales may travel 400,000 miles in their lifetime -- as much as a trip to the moon and back!
