Barbara Lavallee is a watercolor artist living in Alaska. She was born in Davenport, Iowa, and grew up in Wisconsin. She received her art degree at Illinois Wesleyan University. She moved to Southeast Alaska in 1970 to teach at Mount Edgecombe, a native school near Sitka. She quit teaching in 1975 in order to paint full time. Her art features whimsical, stylized characters that reflect her interest in various cultures. This interest has also taken her and her work to exotic places around the world. The popularity of her work continues to grow, and her designs can be found on a variety of different objects such as mugs, trivets and other things. She is also well known as an illustrator of childrens books including "Mama Do You Love Me?" and "This Place is Cold". 6.5 x 9" Oval stained glass.
