Description
Scrimshawed ivory pendant on jade and ivory strand. This ivory has been buried in the frozen earth for hundreds if not thousands of years. The ivory is dug up each summer by Native Alaskans when the earth's surface thaws a few inches at a time in the long Arctic summer days. The coloration in the ivory comes from the different minerals in the ground in which the ivory has been buried. Ivory size is around 2" long. 20" necklace. Made in Alaska.
