Fireweed Seeds

SKU: 69-0037

Common fireweed grows throughout most of Alaska. Its name comes from its ability to revegetate quickly after a fire. The flowers are used to make jelly and honey and the large stands are a source for bees, both wild and domestic. The seed of fireweed requires stratification to get good germination, so freezing it before planting is the best method. Blooming time: July and August. Height: 2-1/2 to 5 feet, growing from deep horizontal roots. 0.5 grams. Made in Alaska.
